Caitlin's Birthday!

Caitlin's birthday was on the 22nd!  She loves her birthday, just as anyone should, but probably a lot more. So, if you are wondering if she loves her birthday more than you love your birthday the answer is yes, yes she does :) She keeps me informed on the countdown to her birthday months and months in advance - like it's not out of character for her to tell me on October 22nd, "My birthday is 6 months from today. Better be prepared." She is pretty funny. Spoiler Alert - It was kind of a lame birthday this year though, but fun still.
Caitlin's birthday was the day after we got back from Easter in San Diego, so she started out her birthday by teaching. She wasn't thrilled to teach on her birthday, but the students all wished her a happy birthday and gave her cards and stuff. Caitlin's mom also bought a bunch of cake bites from the Sweet Tooth Fairy and a friend of theirs took them to the school for Caitlin to eat and share with coworkers.
Here's a poem a few of the kids wrote for Caitlin.
Here are some cards and candy she got from other teachers too.
I met Caitlin at her school and we went to the botanical garden.  It wasn't as cool as I thought it would be, but was still kind of fun.  Here are some pictures -
There were cactus everywhere and after we had been walking for a while we came across this sign saying we were entering the Desert Habitat.
There was a pretty cool glass exhibit. This was my favorite glass display.
We bought this little rock owl for a souvenir for Caitlin at the botanical garden. We decided it's like a Guardian of Ga'hoole, so we named him GG.
Afterwards, we went to dinner at the SoCal Fish Taco Company in Gilbert.  It was pretty good and we ate outside and the temperate was nice.  I had a salmon taco and a shrimp taco and Caitlin had two shrimp tacos.  We didn't take any pictures during our meal, but Caitlin took a shot of the back of the restaurant when we were leaving.

After dinner, we went to the San Tan mall and Caitlin enjoyed looking at all the watches in the Fossil store, then she went and got a pedicure while I browsed around in Barnes and Noble.
Afterwards we went back home and had some cake and opened presents!
I got Caitlin these American flag vans that were on the back cover of my skateboarding magazine. She saw them and fell in love with them.
My mom got Caitlin a "welcome to summer" present with sandals, a beach towel, a new running hat and movie passes.
  Happy birthday Caitlin!

  1. My thoughts:
That Caitlin chick has flawless skin.
I for reals thought that red and yellow cactus was living, until I read your comment about it being glass.
Billy, just because you didn't post a picture of YOUR pedicure doesn't mean it didn't happen. Barnes and Noble, psh. Yeah right.
Axel has those same American flag shoes. Not even kidding a little bit. Well, I'm 99% sure they're in a smaller size, but I'll have to check.

Love you guys! Happy late birthday Cait! (Did I remember it on facebook??? If not, I'm super sorry. I'm going to blame my kids, but really we probably should blame netflix)
