Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend was super fun!  Billy's brother Jon was in town so on Saturday me, Billy, Karen and Jon went to go see the new Star Trek movie!  It was so fun.  We love seeing movies!

On Sunday we invited Stephen and Megan (Billy's friend from high school and roomie from college and his wife) and their new baby Naomi over for dinner.  It was so fun seeing them and catching up!  We are so happy they live so close to us!  And their baby is soooooooooooo cute and good I want to steal her...hehe :)

They invited us to go on a hike with them the next morning in Ahwatukee.  It was a good hike!  And fun to be hiking with a baby...lots of people stopped to talk to us haha.  It was a pretty neat view from the top!

We invited them over for a memorial day BBQ and pool time for later that day.  It was super fun.  And delicious.

The cute fam (I was making Naomi smile by jumping up and down and clapping...it was hilarious as you can see)

All of us good pals back together again!

Such a fun weekend!  And here is a picture of a frog.  There are lots of frogs that come out here at night.

Also, today we changed my name on my social security card!  I am almost officially a Barnes!  Only 3 years late...

Summertime and the livin's easy

So we are now hanging out in Arizona at Billy's parent's house.  It's a pretty sweet life here.  I am just waiting for my job to start (If I didn't blog about it...I accepted the job out here at the charter school BASIS that my dear friend Caitlin Allsop set up my interview for.  I'm excited!) and Billy is just searching for a job...so we are kind of just hanging out right now.  We have started a pretty coolio routine.  We wake up when we want, then we do an insanity workout, then we make a smoothie, then we watch a show while eating it, then we go out and work in the backyard or go in the pool.  It's a pretty awesome routine.

Here are some pictures of things we've been doing:

Insanity (Bruce snapped this picture of us)...those workouts are way hard I promise.

We have seen 2 scorpions in the house so far!  Yikes!  There are lots of yucky insects in Arizona.

I told Bruce I needed to blog about what we have been doing and he said "I'm sure there will be lots of pictures of me"...and we had none.  So Billy took one.  Here ya go Bruce!  And next to your favorite thing...chocolate cake!

Billy's birthday was on Thursday and so we went out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings!  This is an extremely blurry picture but at least I documented the occasion.  I also got Billy a few presents that he opened that night before we had ice cream and played games with his parents :)  He's 27!  Can you believe it?  Yowza.

Oh and this is another picture of Bruce we took today...he always has his Ham radio with him, even when he's doing yard work (or taking a break from yard work in this picture).  He's been pushing me pretty hard to get my Ham radio license...I just don't know if I'm nerdy enough to get it :)

Other things we've been up to that I don't have pictures of:
-Watching lots of movies and shows
-Jon is in town this weekend for a wedding so yesterday we went to Cafe Rio for lunch (they have one here!!) and today we went to see the new Star Trek movie and then walked to go get dinner at Panda Express.
-I've been running a few times in the hot hot sun (it's so hot here!)
-Shopping with Karen and buying a new dress I don't need
-Playing "Nines" with Bruce and Karen
-Eating lots of Blue Bell cookies and cream ice cream
-Going to Barnes and Noble to buy myself an AP Biology study book so I can brush up on my Biology
-Driving out to Ahwatukee to get a feel for where the school is and to pick up a fingerprinting application (it's so expensive and this will be the 3rd time I have to be fingerprinted...ugh)
-Going to Bahama Bucks with Bruce (we were here for about a week with just Bruce while Karen was still in Dubai)
-Teaching Karen's sunbeam class for her last week and laughing at some pretty hilarious things the kids were saying.  For example, "We have zucchinis and they talk to me.  They don't talk to my Mom though, she can't hear them, only I can hear them."  Hahaha what?

And I think that's it.  It's been very relaxed here which is fun after our super busy semester in DC!  But it will be nice to have things to do once work starts...but I don't want it to start for a long long time because I am so nervous.  So I am just trying to soak up all the laziness and relaxation I can for now because I know it won't last :)

A few days in San Diego...

After our Brea time with all the sisters and little girlies/boys, we headed down to San Diego to spend a little time with my family.  It was a blast!

Highlights:
-Seeing Cody pole vault TWICE in one week!  And he did awesome!  (He actually metaled at CIF Finals today!!!  6th place boo yah!!)
-Seeing Jayce's baseball game...little kid baseball games are so hilarious
-Exercise and shopping trip with my Mom!!  We got to go to Nordstrom and we found one of our favorite shoe stores and we found a Mrs. Field's cookies!  Best day ever am I right?
-Billy and Jayce exploring the hills behind our house armed with airsoft guns and a bow and arrow.
-Skyping with Derek on Mother's day!
-Eating salmon on Mother's day (yes, it was that memorable!)
-Going out to lunch with my parents twice
-Eating Mom's Texas sheet cake
-Running my normal run (I hate/love that run)
-and that's pretty much it...we did a lot of relaxing and watching movies :)

Here are some pictures.  Cody pole vaulting and flying over bar (not sure what height this is):

Flying!!

Jayce's game:

Billy exploring with Jayce (notice his quiver made out of a palm frond...Billy had fun helping him make that.  So cute.  That's our house down there)

Talking with Derek!

Me creepily taking a nap with my eyes open!!  Look how scary that is!!!!!!!  Had to include this because its so weird.

That's all the pictures I have.  It was such a fun trip!  Thanks to my parents for letting us stay and hang out with us and feed us so much delicious food!  I love my family!  After San Diego we made our way back to Arizona, where we are here to stay.

Mermaids!

More wave jumping

Ceci got buried

 Sand angels

I can't get enough of this face...like really- so cute!

Chasing birds with Ceci...very tiring believe it or not

Ceci doing her tired point.  She starts pointing at something, then forgets what it is and her hand slowly drifts straight up.  Hilarious.

We also had a day where we played with water balloons and guns in the front yard.

Shooting each other at very short range...

All the girls attacking Billy

Everyone shooting Billy...hahah I love this picture

Water balloon filling station...Maddison was thirsty and yes Whitney is in her underwear.  These girls crack me up.

Then we turned on the sprinklers!  I love this picture so much haha!

Ceci was loving this game where I would pull her finger out of her nose and then she would just stick it right back in.

What we would look like as a little family... so fun!

Also while we were there we ate a lot of mexican food, watched a lot of He-Man, played a lot of different little girl games, ran around a ton, and ate a lot of treats.  Man it was the best!!  We miss all the little girlies so much.  Especially Jody and her girls who are now to Dubai!  Crazy crazy!  More random pics:

Whitney grabbing her toys in her hoodie towel

Ceci enjoying some popcorn on Billy's lap...she can really down popcorn!

Sierra and Whit lookin coolio in our glasses :)

So fun!

Arizona to California!

We spent a few days in Arizona playing with the little girlies and Kara who was in town with Scarlett and Grayson!  We also were able to help Jody get ready to move to Dubai.  It was tons of fun playing with Maddison and little Ceci.  They are both so fun.  After a couple days of crazy packing and prep, we headed to California to spend some time with Jenny and her girls!

Getting some sweet Grayson time in...

The morning before driving to California we went to Joe's Farm Grill for breakfast...yum!  It was so fun.  The little kids are so fun.  I stole some of these pictures from Jody...thanks Jody!

Scarlett loves bacon.  She told us so by saying "ooooooh bacon!" in her deep adorable voice :)

Showing Grammy her "feashers"

Cousin lovin' <3

Kisses for Grayson!  I love this one.

All the kids and their kids or lack of kids...Ceci's face is so cute!

More sweet Grayson time...he's so cute!

Then we were off to California!  The drive went really well...both Madds and Ceci are good travelers.

In California we got to do so many fun things!  We started out with a free trip to Disneyland!  Woohoo!  It was a blast.

Sierra was so brave and went on Tower of Terror with us!  You can tell from the ride picture that she wasn't too thrilled about it though haha.  It was so funny, when the ride ended she was talking really softly and saying how scary it was, and then as soon as she stood up she started bragging about how it was scary but she was brave.  Haha so cute.

Me being a mom...

Carter holding time... this is him the one second he wasn't wiggling!

Ceci's crazy hair!  And my tired face...

Ceci leading me into Minnie's house...

She's on a mission
