Hot Chocolate 15K

Earlier in the year like in October/November a few of my coworkers and I talked about doing the Hot Chocolate 15K race in Phoenix on December 7th.  I signed up for it and so did my friend Kristy, but no one else ended up signing up so we ran it together.  It was a really fun race!  15K is a random distance, I didn't really know how to pace myself (it's around 9 miles), so we probably could have gone faster but it was good we were consistent.  We stayed at almost exactly 10 minute miles the entire race!  I had a really fun time getting to know Kristy better too.

Before the race, lining up
During the race, around mile 8.  We sent this to our friends who didn't run with us.  Super flattering, we know.

Kristy and I ran together the whole time until the last mile.  I split away from her, trying to push to the finish but I hurt my ankle in the process.  I tried my best to finish strong though.

Kristy finishing...she is awesome!

We got medals and "finisher mugs" filled with hot chocolate, melted chocolate, and treats to dip in the chocolate.  YUM!

Shout out to Billy for driving me to the race and following us along the route the whole time taking pictures!  Those are on our other camera so I'll have to include them later.  He was a great supporter!  Kristy and I were pretty pumped after the race, talking about signing up for all these other races but it might have just been the post-run high :)  We haven''t signed up for anything else yet, but we make a pretty good running team so I'm sure we will do more races together in the future.

November happenings

HELLO!  I feel like I haven't blogged in forever.  I'm sorry about that.  I've had a blogger bug the last few days and really want to get caught up!  If only I just never fell behind...

Soooo the last thing Billy blogged was Halloween.  Awesome.  So beginning of November I went down to San Diego to run the She Runs half marathon with my mom (as was mentioned in the previous post).  It was a tough run because it was all on dirt trails.  We weren't really concerned with our time as much as finishing without any injuries.  I hadn't run a race with my mom before (well, not since high school or earlier!) so it was really fun to do that with her.  Here are some additional pictures:

Before the race

After...we did it!

Other ladies from the ward who ran the race too!

It was a really dirty run.  Don't worry, I got a pedicure with my mom later that day. (I know you were judging, Kara ;) )

After the race we were both pretty hungry obviously and my mom is super healthy right now so she just ate some fruit or something but I was STARVING so she took me to smashburger while we ran some errands.  The closest one was right on 17th street in Del Mar.  I love this view...I want to live here someday!

Driving me back to the airport.  Can't beat that sunset over the bay.  Love it.

The next weekend in November Stephen and Megan Nelson invited us to go to a rodeo with them down in Gilbert!  It was really fun, I'd never been to a rodeo before.  Lots of people flying off the backs of animals.  And also lots of tying up small animals for fun, which I wasn't a fan of.  We love Stephen and Megan, it was a great time!  Didn't get any pics of us or the Nelsons (boo), just the cows.

Thanksgiving was at the end of the month.  For Thanksgiving this year we flew up to Utah to spend Thursday and Friday with my family.  My brothers drove down from Idaho and my parents drove out from San Diego.  It was a really short trip, but it's always a blast hanging out with my fam.

Thanksgiving morning we flew in super early to SLC and my Dad picked us up.  We were staying in Park City so we drove out there.  My mom was working on getting a big breakfast started at John and Barbara's Park City house.  Steven and Katie Barrow came out with Kelly to see us too!  It was a blast.  We enjoyed a big breakfast, visited, got cleaned up and got ready to head down to Provo for the big feast.

John and Barbara hosted Thanksgiving at their Provo house.  There was quite the turn out.  It was awesome!  John is seriously a chef and Barbara is just a wizard with her cooking skills so it was all so delicious.  We had so much fun catching up with cousins and grandparents and all that as well.  Of course I had to sit by Lauren at the dinner table because it's what we always do and every time I am around her I am reminded of how much I love her!  I am so lucky to have such awesome cousins.  Too bad we didn't take a picture to remember.

THE SPREAD!  With Lisa and Greg in the background getting his deep-fried turkey all ready to go (it was DELICIOUS!)

I laugh so hard every time I look at this picture.  Love these weirdos!

Jayce and Johnny...so fancy
After dinner we hung out for a long time in a food coma and were watching some football (blah).  We got a game of Uno going eventually that was super long and horrible.  After that the older cousins played a game called Buzz Word which ended up being super fun and we were sad to leave so we couldn't play more rounds!  It was definitely a Thanksgiving for the books.

Friday my mom and I got up early and went for a long run in the freezing weather.  Too bad we forgot to bring our phones so we didn't take any pictures but the views were gorgeous!

After our run we got ready and headed to a tubing place in Park City.  It was SUPER crowded but someone (probably my Dad) insisted we all go down at least once anyway.  It ended up, of course, being a blast.  Cody and Jayce somehow sneaked past the guy checking tickets and got to ride twice!

This is us riding our tubes to the very top, ready to ride down.

After tubing we went back to John and Barbara's PC house to clean up a bit and snap a family picture.  Then we went to go see Mockingjay (I think?) and then went back to the hotel and had some dinner.  It was a great day.

Family pic.  Just missing Dallin...boo.  Look at how grown up all my brothers are!  We are almost all adults!  Except Jayce who has a lot of catching up to do.

I'm really not sure why this was so funny, and still is so funny (I'm laughing right now) but Jayce put this pile of snow on this electrical thing and it looked like George Washington.  We were all cracking up.  Cody posed all fancy-like next to it.  Then we had to add a George Washington wig to the skinny orange pole next to it.

Hilarious!  But I know it's not really that funny.  But yes it is.
Saturday everyone drove back home.  We rode with my parents and Jayce to Vegas and then caught a flight from there.  Such a great trip!

Saturday night once we got home we had Lauren and Dan, Caitlin and Clayton over for games, cookies, and catching up!  Lauren and Dan were in town visiting his family, so it was perfect timing.  I love these girls, we had some awesome times in college!

Love these girls!
Flashback to our college days...YES I know I look amazing.  We had too much fun back in the day!

Awesome Thanksgiving break for sure!
