Sutherland Family Reunion

The reunion last week was so so so fun.  Grandpa is so awesome at putting these reunions together.  On Sunday we all went to church then hurried back to the condos to get dressed and go take family pictures.  We hung out the rest of the day playing gamez and stuffz.

On Monday it was mountain biking day, which I decided I should probably not participate in because I just broke my wrist a few days earlier from doing that exact activity.  Me and my mom went for a walk and we just hung out the whole day. Dallin got there so we got him some soap and stuff to take a shower/disinfect.

Tuesday was ATV day!  I was  supposed to drive my own but I rode passenger on Billy's since I only had 1 good arm.  It was so fun!  But very dirty.  And very scary being a passenger on Billy's.  But that's ok.

Gearing up

Beautiful...

Woo hoo!!

Look how dirty Dad and Grandpa got!  Haha!

Wednesday was white water rafting day!!  So fun!

Our boat!  Love this pic.  Jayce looks so worried haha

It was so so fun!!  I just wish I had 2 useable arms...because I couldn't really paddle at all and I felt pretty useless.  It was still really fun though.

Thursday was Fun Park day!  Me and my mom went up a little later than everyone else.  It was so fun up there!  But I guess I underestimated how close we are to the sun up in the Colorado mountains because I got severely sun burnt!  Worth it though.

Billy on the jumpy trampoline

Derek on the roller coaster

Kenny on the Alpine slide

There was also a maze, and some panning for gems, a rock climbing wall, and a scenic chair lift.  It was really fun!

Thursday night we went to a "Chuck Wagon Dinner" which was a BBQ dinner and a fun cowboy show out in the middle of the wilderness!  It was a good time for sure.  Lauren and Grandpa were the stars of the show.  It was hilarious.

Friday was free day, with no specific plans so we all went for a family bike ride.  It was great!  Minus my bum being so sore I thought it was going to fall off.  Me and Billy rode a tandem bike so he could steer.

Then on Saturday we all had to pack up and say goodbye :(  So sad.  I have to put in this picture...Jayce's favorite thing to do was drop trash down the trash chute.  So exciting for a 6 year old...and obviously an 18 year old too.

So on our drive home, we made awesome time and were crusin in our big blue truck and once we got back to Price the mechanic gave us the good news that our car was all fixed!  We were so excited and got in to drive it away from the mechanic.......and then it wouldn't start.  Awesome.  So we started calling cousins and grandparents to see if anyone could pick us up on their way back home, but no one was answering their phones.  So we were panicking and trying to come up with an alternate solution to get home and trying to figure out what to do with our stupid broken car and then Adam fortunately called us and said they could pick us up on their way through.  But they were 3 hours away still, so we had some waiting to do.  So we went and explored (some more) the awesome, super exciting town of Price, UT that we had grown to know so well.

We took some awesome pictures in the truck

Went to the dinosaur museum there, unfortunately it was closed so we just took pictures of the outside.

Billy climbing up to hang out with the dinos...

and then getting smashed by it!!  OH NO

Then once Adam, Kim, Andrew, Martha and Blake got there, they were all hungry so we got to hang out in Price longer!  Yay!  We went to dinner and Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt De and Ann were driving through right then too so they met up with us and ate too.  Reunion part 2!  It was fun.  Then we had a really fun drive home with Kim, Adam and baby Olivia!  So fun.  It ended up being a lot longer day than we thought, but all ended up ok.  Our car is still in Price getting a new head gasket, and we should be able to go back and pick it up soon (hopefully).  Can't wait to go back to Price!  Jk.  It was a super fun week and we can't wait for the next reunion :)

1 YEAR!

Okay guys I have so much to blog about it's ridiculous.  First of all, Billy just hit me in the face with a pair of socks he threw across the room and it really startled me.  Just fyi.

We've been married for a whole year now!!!!!!!  So crazy!  Time flies.  So, our plan for our anniversary was supposed to go like this: leave Thursday morning (anniversary was on Friday the 12th), drive to Vail, CO, spend Thursday and Friday nights at a fun hotel in Vail while hanging out and doing fun things together and celebrating, then drive to Breckenridge, CO on Saturday to meet up with everyone for the Sutherland family reunion and have the funnest week ever, then drive back home Saturday (yesterday).

Here is how it really went: start driving Thursday morning, car breaks down 1 1/2 hours out of Provo in Price, UT (the teeniest, worst town ever), tow car to repair place, sit around the mechanic for 6 hours waiting for them to fix the car, find out they can't fix it until the next day, cry, spend the night at great uncle Martin's house, have a surprisingly fun time there talking and playing games, don't sleep all night out of fear of the cats jumping on my head, go to mechanic the next day and wait around, find out the car can't be fixed until Monday, cry, miraculously get the only rental car left in the whole area (a 2011 Ford F-150 bright blue truck...pretty awesome), get hotel reservation switched to Friday and Saturday nights (yay!), drive and finally get to Vail, lights go out in hotel all night, mountain bike the next day and fall and fracture my wrist (boo!), spend all day at the doctor, next day drive to Breckenridge and meet up with the family and have the funnest week ever!  (Except the drive home...but I'll save that for later).

I think I'm just going to write about our trip to Vail and blog the family reunion later.  So here are some pictures:

The big blue truck!

We went out to dinner Friday night in Vail at a steak place called Russel's.  It was delish but had really bad service.  But we got to sit creek-side which was really fun!  Colorado is so pretty.

On Saturday morning we ordered room service!  Just because we had both always wanted to.  It was so fun and we felt so fancy!  Except we ordered oatmeal and they strangely only brought us 1 spoon?  So we had to call them to bring another.  And it was supposed to come with fruit but didn't so I called again and the guy was like "well, you didn't ask for it so I didn't think you wanted it".  Really?  It said it was included, why would I ask for it? Haha so they brought that up but only gave us 1 fork!  But I didn't call them again, it was just so funny because they kept messing up.

Then we went out mountain biking!  Rode the gondola up, then rode our bikes slowly down the first time, then rode the gondola up again to ride it again, and that's when I tried to go faster down and then pressed my brakes too hard and flipped off the bike!  So scary.

The road looks really smooth, but trust me, it was really bumpy, steep, and scary!  (side note: Billy just chose to watch Pride and Prejudice all on his own.  This is why we get along so well.)

This is right after I fell :(  I'm smiling because there were bikers biking down past us and I was embarrassed that I was crying and that Billy was taking a picture of me crying and bleeding haha.
We called the mountain doctors or whatever and they picked us up and drove us back up the mountain.  We then went to an urgent care in Avon and got some x-rays and all cleaned up and got a splint thing for my arm.

Here is the pain scale they use to assess pain, we thought it was hilarious:

While we were gone all day, my parents were driving through on their way to Breckenridge and dropped off some cupcakes our wedding cake lady made for us for our one year!  So we got to pick those up and eat them and they were sooooooooooooooooooooo delish!  It was a great end to a long day.

On Sunday we went to the hospital one more time to pick up a different cast thing since we found out one of the bones in my wrist is fractured.  Then we met up with everybody at church in Breckenridge!

It was definitely a very memorable weekend.  We will for sure never forget our eventful 1 year anniversary!  More to come later :)

Just a little reminder...

"Things work out, it isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out, don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in him, if we will pray to him, if we will live worthy of his blessings, he will hear our prayers."

Summer dayzz

Some things that have been entertaining us this summer are:

Getting crashed into (again)

Cruising around in an old person car while ours gets fixed

Going to Color Me Mine and painting some awesome plates (they aren't finished yet...I will post pics of the final products)

Swimming every so often for exercise.  I can't seem to be able to fit a swim cap over all my hair...so Billy thought he'd try it out hahaha

Enjoying some awesome thunderstorms!  (except when it rains so hard that it leaks into our apartment through our window...ugh) Check out these clouds though!! (I took this picture with my phone aka its bad quality and they still look super awesome!)

Having picnics inside while its thundering and raining outside (yep, having s'mores and all)

Getting bug bites on our ankles and having it make our ankle swell up to twice it's normal size (well that's just me, and it wasn't fun at all...just kind of funny/mostly gross.  you can't really tell that it's swollen in this picture...)

Doing mud masks while watching movies

Building forts and watching movies (there's been a lot of watching movies hehe)

And we are loving trying to sleep in through all the construction noise.  They've made lots of progress...we can barely see the sky anymore out our window.  Awesome.

So there you have it.  The day to day activities of our awesome summer.  So sad it will soon be coming to a close.

P.S. Our 1 year anniversary is in less than 2 WEEKS!  Can you believe it??  Any ideas of what to do to celebrate?  We are trying to plan something awesome.
