Billy's 26th Birthday!

Before I start telling about fun stuff, I have some sad news to share.  Captain America died.  I know pretty sad, huh?  We totally thought he was going to die though because he NEVER ate and would just sit in his bowl not moving.  It was a pretty sad sight, so I'm glad he's passed on to fish heaven where he can hopefully find the happiness he was not able to find while here.  It was good we did this test run on a fish rather than an actual kid...haha

BUT we got a new fish!  We really liked having a fish around, so we went and bought another one.

Isn't he beautiful?  We are still trying to decide on a name, but I'm leaning toward b-cubed, which stands for beautiful blue betta.  Pretty good, right?  Vanilla Ice is also a good one.  He is a MUCH better eater and way more interactive and alive!  He gets really scared whenever we move though, and starts swimming all crazy.  He's pretty cool.

So on to Billy's birthday!  It was such a fun day!  We figured out this is the 4th birthday of his that we have celebrated together!!  Can you believe we met when he was 22?  Now I'M 22!  Crazy.  When he turned 23 he was in San Diego with me and we went to the Wild Animal Park and I got him some blue vans that he still wears to this day, when he turned 24 we went to the wool festival and I set up a scavenger hunt for him at all our favorite places and made him lots of cupcakes, when he turned 25 we were married and we went out to eat and saw Thor in the theater!  And now he is 26!

So I got up at 6 am on his birthday to try and make him breakfast before he went to work (I know I should really do that everyday...), but alas we both got up too late and didn't have time.  But I wrote out the day's events in a fun little note and gave it to him.  After work and school we went out to eat at Tucanos since he's been wanting to go there for forever!

We stuffed ourselves SO full of meat and grilled pineapple...mmmm.  Then we went to go see the Avengers for the 2nd time!  Billy kept saying how much he loved it and how he wanted to see it again, so I decided it was a good idea.  His favorite activities are eating and watching movies, after all :)  That was way fun.

Then we came home and ate a ton of cupcakes.  They were small...I promise.  And we watched a lot of the show Community which we love now.  And we started getting ready for our trip to CA the next day!  Oh yeah and Billy opened his presents from his mom, my mom, and me!  Both moms got him some shirts, and he got Thor and some gift cards (thanks moms!!), and I got him....................CAMPING GEAR!  2 sleeping bags and a tent!  Who knew I would be willing to buy this stuff and then by default go camping??  Crazy...I guess I must really love Billy!  He's been wanting camping stuff forever (he always bugs me about how we should have registered for it for our wedding...I didn't think anyone would buy us a tent, ok?!)

Anyways, it was a great day!  Happy Birthday to the best husband around!!

Captain America Barnes

Hey Everybody,
We have a Betta fish now.  Caitlin got it from her evolutionary biology lab because they were doing experiments with Betta fish to see which one is the most aggressive and the dominate male.  The fish that Caitlin brought home was the winner!  We have the most aggressive Betta from the lab!  It's blue and red and has white on the tips of its fins so Caitlin named him Captain America.  Haha!  I think the name is perfect.  We call him Cap'n for short.  Here's some pictures -

We went to the pet shop yesterday to get that awesome fish bowl, plastic plant, and blue and red stones to match his colors.  We also bought some Betta food, which Captain America doesn't seem to like very much.  He'll swallow like 4 of them and then spit them out like a machine gun.  So, I went back to the pet store and bought some freeze dried blood worms which he seems to like.

Today, Caitlin and I texted each other at about the same time regarding Cap'n.  Take a look at what she said in her text - it's super funny.
Apparently our sweet little aggressive Captain America can give sassy looks... I haven't seen it yet because he loves me, but Caitlin seems to be able to get him all riled up.  I'll let you know if he learns any awesome tricks or something.

Kina Grannis concert!

Last night I went with my dear friend Ariel to go see Kina Grannis sing/play in Salt Lake!  I hadn't heard of her before Ariel invited me...but she was so good!  And so cute.  Here is the video she famous for doing:

Pretty awesome, huh?

We got there super early (the first 50 people in line got meet and greet passes) and so we were in the VERY front at the concert!  It was kind of awkward how close we were, I tried to not make eye contact with her haha it was crazy!  Here's some pics:

Waiting to get in...(Ariel taught me how to use Instagram...and Twitter and Pinterest for that matter haha)

Riiiight up in front

Oh yeah the opening guy was called "Imaginary Friend".  I really loved his voice and his songs!  So I bought his CD after for $5...but its not as good as he was live :(

She played with this other guy for a lot of her songs...he was way good.  It was fun.  They played Coldplay's "Fix You" at the end which was soooo beautiful!

Then we got to meet her!  The lighting was horrible slash we only had our phones to take pics with.

It was so fun!!

May 8, 2010, Billy popped the big question!  At Torrey Pines beach, late at night (well, like 8), when it was pitch dark, I was super tired (we just came from the Padre's game I think), and a little grumpy, we drove to the (closest...not my favorite unfortunately) beach and walked around.  We found a nice rock to sit on and he told me lots of sweet and nice things, then told me how he never wanted to be apart from me (for eternity!).  And I said me either.  So he put a ring on it (well, in the car.  When I said it was pitch dark, I mean like we were blind.  and so he didn't want to drop and lose the ring...obvi).

And we were engaged!  (This is after we got back home from said beach)

Look how young and naive we were. Haha jk we look pretty much the same.  The last 2 years have been so fun!

Graduation, Half Marathon, Wedding, and Birthday!

Ok, this post is going to be a monster post.  Just letting you know.  But I just have to get it all blogged before I forget more!

So last last week (week of April 16) was finals week!  Billy didn't have any real finals, his were all papers that he got turned in early which was awesome for him, but I had a few finals.  I got 2 of them done on Saturday, then most of Monday and Tuesday were spent in the library studying for genetics!  Wednesday morning I got up and reviewed some more for genetics...and then decided that anymore studying wasn't going to do me any good, so might as well go take it!  4 hours and 31 questions later I finished and you won't believe what I got...A 94%!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm a genius.  Not really, it's just a miracle.  And I studied really hard.  I felt so smart though and like I could do anything!  That feeling has since worn off now that I'm back in the drudgery of school again...ANYWAYS.

So Wednesday night we headed up to American Fork to have dinner at Olive Garden with Grandma and Grandpa Barrow and all of Grandma's siblings and spouses.  It was really fun!  G&G were so nice to organize the whole night and pay for our dinner :)  I love reconnecting with family and feeling the support of all of them, even if I don't know them very well!  Families are awesome.

Thursday was the big day!  I went running with Adrianne in the morning (for our last run together before she leaves on a mission...sad but happy) and then Billy's parents got into town shortly thereafter!  I realized I had my online class final to finish and another paper to finish that day by noon, so I was stressing to get it all written and done before everyone came into town!  It was pretty funny.  We went out to eat at Rubio's with Bruce and Karen and had a great time!  Then we all headed over to the commencement ceremony thing at the Marriott center.

I decided to walk in graduation with Billy, so that is why I look like I have graduated but am still going to school.  The commencement was great, except it was super hot in there.  Here's some pics (thanks Bruce and Dad for the pics!):

Can you find us?

So excited to keep going to college for another year!

Oh and Friday morning (at 8 am!) was the walking ceremony so that's when we walked and got our diplomas.  We had to be there at 7 and that means I had to wake up at like 5:30 to get ready haha which means we were really tired!!  Here's some pictures we took with Billy's phone:

All lined up ready to walk in...

 This was Friday morning...

Me and Adrianne!

Brothers!

Grandma and Grandpa!  Bruce and Karen were there too, not sure why I don't have any pictures with them!

Alright anyways, back to Thursday.  Thursday night we had a graduation/birthday party at Uncle David and Aunt Kathy's house up in Riverton.  Grandpa put together a funny little program for the graduates (and for me, the "pseudo-graduate") and we had Cafe Rio for dinner!  It was so fun.  It was also to celebrate Aunt Diane's birthday (and mine and Kenzie's friend's)!

Magleby's Cake!

 Happy Birthday to us!

The party was so fun.  So jumping forward to Friday again, after the walking ceremony, we went out to eat breakfast at Kneaders!

After breakfast we hung out for a while and then went up to campus to the Bookstore to check out Bruce's photos and buy some candy :)  We went to the MOA to check out the exhibit and then got some J-Dawgs on our way back home!  We ate a lot of food that weekend...

Then we headed up to the Keller's for a birthday gathering/carbo load from Olive Garden before the big Half Marathon on Saturday!  My mom and dad showed up with Jessica!  And then Travis, Cami, Tyler and his gf Rifka all showed up and it was so fun!  We played pounce and had a good time.  We headed home kinda early since we had to get up at 4:30 the next morning for the race!

Saturday morning came way early and my parents drove me and Jess up to Salt Lake when it was still dark outside.  We found parking and got all pumped up for the run!

The race was SO FUN!  It was so exhilarating!  We were just running along and then all of a sudden it was mile 4!  Then we saw my parents at mile 5 which was so fun!  Then my knee started really hurting during mile 5.  At mile 7 my parents were there again!

Dancing around a bit...not sure where this energy came from haha

Then they were there again at mile 9!  That was a nice boost.  Mile 10-12 were gradually uphill which was really hard and we were both struggling a little.  But once we saw the mile marker for 12 we got so pumped and started pushing so hard!  The last 3/4 of a mile were downhill and we started running faster and faster until we were practically sprinting at the end!  I thought I was going to trip and fall because my legs were so tired but it was so fun sprinting to the finish!  I look super goofy in all the pictures...I'm all smiley and it's weird and Jessica looks so tough!  Haha pretty funny.  Here we are finishing!

WOO HOO!

It was SO FUN!  I can't wait to do another one!  I just hope my knee stops hurting...I think I need new running shoes.

Anyways, we had to hurry hurry back to Provo to shower and get ready to head back up to Sandy for Kenzie and Steve's sealing!  It was an awesome wedding, I could tell that they were both so ready to be married and they were so happy.  I loved it!

They are so cute!  Her dress, hair and make-up were all perfect!

We then went to Jamba, then up to the reception at Thanksgiving Point!  It was such a beautiful place for a reception.  It was during the tulip festival, so there were tulips everywhere and it was so awesome!  Here's me and Jess enjoying the beautiful weather outside at the reception:

I love that picture!

After the reception we headed home to change, then over to Aunt Barbara's for root beer fest 2012!  Me and Jess were so dead tired...I think we both felt kind of sick.  So it wasn't totally awesome, I didn't even have any root beer haha.

Sunday was MY BIRTHDAY!  Woo woo!  We went over to Aunt Barbara's again for a big breakfast of pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream (my fav!) and bacon!  Sooo yummy!  Then Jess, Mike and his girlfriend all had to leave :( so we said goodbye and then my family came to our ward for church!  So fun.  Then we had dinner, cake, and opened presents at John and Barbara's again that night.  It was so fun.  It was perfect since I was still so tired :)

My mom got me these awesome cute cakes that were so yummy!

It was such a fun weekend!!  I'm pretty sure I worked myself too hard that weekend and didn't get enough sleep because all last week I had a fever and was super sick.  AND I had to start school again, which was a bummer.  But now I'm better and school is going well!  Just lots of homework.

Anyways, there you have it!  What a fun weekend!!  Thanks to everyone who came out for graduation and who helped make the weekend so awesome.
