San Diego weekend with the Johnson's!

After getting home from Oregon, I had a couple days to relax and home and then we hit the road again and took our friends the Johnson's to San Diego with us!  It was a blast!  They had Spring Break the next week and wanted to stick their toes in some sand so we all thought it would be a good idea to do just that.  We drove down on Thursday, stopping at Chick-fil-A on our way out and got a free frozen lemonade/ice cream...yum!  It was a fun road trip!

Friday we got up and headed to Sea World!  I got free tickets for being a teacher (holla!)  Danielle had never been to Sea World and Erik hadn't been since he was a kid so it was pretty exciting for them both.  Billy hadn't been since he was a kid either!  So fun.

Sea of surprises!

Dolphin show!  Not sure why I have so many chins in this pic...

Oh man the Shamu show was so funny.  The only good seats we could find left was on the VERY front row.  For some reason we thought we wouldn't get that wet since we didn't get wet at the dolphin show.  Orca whales are very large and so therefore it really was a soak zone.  It was hilarious how wet we got.  Me and Danielle thought running up higher would save us but we probably got way more soaked up there rather than staying under the wave on the front row.  Oh well, it was super funny.
Shamu show!

Best picture of the day...Erik getting nailed by the wave
This is where Danielle and I ran to to escape the wave

Soaked!  Looks like I'm wearing a two tone shirt

Raft ride!

Super fun day!  We had Costco pizza for dinner with the missionaries in my parents super under-construction house hehe good times.

The next day Danielle and I decided to run 10 miles to the beach.  We are crazy.  The guys met us at the beach with food and boogie boards and our suits and we had an awesome beach day!

We made it!
Pretty
A ghost photobombed their super cute pic...sorry guys :)

After the beach we got cleaned up and headed to dinner at the Blue Market Grill.  It was a SUPER long line and we were starving but it was SO worth it.  Love that place!  We all got different assorted fish tacos, one of which was a lobster taco, and I still can't stop thinking about them.  YUM!

Hehehehehe cutest pic ever
Real camera pics are so much better than these crappy phone ones!
After dinner we went to Rita's for some frozen custard and ran into my old track coach Jamal!  It was really fun reconnecting.  Then we got home and watched a scary movie and pigged out.  The next morning we went to church, then headed back to AZ.  We converted Erik and Danielle to Serial which was super fun listening to on the way back.  We got in a little fender bender on our way back into town and I hit my phone on my lip so I had blood on my teeth for a sec which was intense looking.  Very tiny amount of damage to the car though.  Overall a super fun weekend!

Oregon!

My spring break was March 9-13 and my cousin Cami and I decided it would be freaking awesome if I went out to visit her for a few days!  It was a BLAST!  Such a good break from school and the normal routine.  I can't thank you enough Cami for inviting me and being such an amazing host!

I got there super late Friday night.  Saturday we hit up the Portland Saturday Market in the morning, which was super fun and full of Portland culture.  Travis got off work and joined us.  It was an awesome time!

Drinking from the public drinking fountains, the Benson Bubblers
I actually kind of love this picture...check out the guy in the background hahaha perfect
Love these two.
Check out all the weirdos!
After walking around the market for a few hours we headed over to famous Voodoo doughnuts. The line was SUPER long but it ended up not taking that long, and it was definitely worth it!!

We're so cute/creepy
Made it inside!

Yummmm
Then we headed across the street to take a picture by the famous "Keep Portland Weird" sign...good times

Afterwards we headed over to Powell's books and wandered around there for a while.  It was pretty overwhelmingly huge.  Our feet were pretty tired at this point so we didn't stay too long.

Thought about buying this.  Billy would have been happy with me if I did :)

Being weirdos
After Powell's we headed over to the tram that leads up to the hospital where Cami works.  We rode the tram up and enjoyed some doughnuts up at the top.  Dang those doughnuts were delicious!

Being weird again...love these two!

View from the top!
After that we headed home and watched Big Hero 6 and had a few more doughnuts :)  This one had captain crunch on it and it shocked me with its deliciousness!

The next morning we went to an early sacrament meeting and then headed out for a grand beach day adventure!  We drove a really long way and made it to Seaside beach.  Lexi (their dog) enjoyed it immensely.  After walking around for a while found a salt water taffy place and bought a ton of taffy!  It was super fun.

According to Cami I look like "such an adult" in this pic :)

1805-1806?  What is the purpose of this sign?

Taffy time

After finishing at the taffy shop we stopped for some lunch and then headed to haystack rock beach since I was being super touristy and wanted to go there.  The sand was weird and squeaky when you walked on it which was cool, and the rock was pretty impressive!  I wonder how it formed like that.

Candid pic that I was actually looking at the camera for

Cutest fam <3
After hanging out at haystack rock beach we drove the hour or so to the Tillamook cheese factory!  There were some gorgeous views on the way there so of course we had to stop and take some pics.

We made it to the cheese factory and stuffed ourselves with cheese and ice cream :)

The factory wasn't running since it was a Sunday but some people were packaging up some huge blocks of cheese...yummm
ICE CREAM

The next morning we got up and went on a little run with Lexi which was super fun!  It is always so great having someone to run with.  After that we got ready and headed to the Columbia employee store!  I definitely spent more than I should have but I found some gems (a nice jacket, running shirt, and hat) that I love.  I could have bought everything though if I had the $$$.  After that we had Chipotle for lunch and then headed over to the Nike campus for a quick tour.  It was incredible!  I have officially been inspired to work for Nike.  After that we went to Costco where everyone thought we were a lesbian couple...awesome!

I <3 to document everything...even eating

How they used to sell Nike shoes, out of the back of a van.

That evening we got to go out to eat at the most Portland-y place ever.  It was super hipster and funky.  It was super fun because uncle Gene was in town so he treated us all!  So fun spending time with him and enjoying the food all together.

Appetizer came on a slab of wood...is this wood organic?

I ordered the vegetarian dish (not really thinking) and this is what I got.  What do you think it is?  Oatmeal with some gross worms on top?  It was actually a pasta with mushrooms on top and actually pretty delicious!  Everyone felt bad for me though and kept putting pieces of meat on my plate hahah

Sorry Cami, I had to ;)  You two are too cute

Tiny little desserts that were pretty dang good
The next and final day was another fun filled day!  Cami and I woke up and watched the episode of the Bachelor we missed from the night before (stupid Chris chose Whitney...barf) and ate some doughnuts.  Then we went and did a hike called Angel's Rest.  It was about 5 miles.  After the hike we went and saw Multnomah falls, which was GORGEOUS.  Gosh Oregon is so pretty.

On our way to hike...we know we look way too pretty to go hike ;) we were being high maintenance this day

Took some nature pics to show my students since some of them have never been hiking...what

Best picture of us ever

Afterwards we got fries and shakes which were AWESOME.  Then we met up with cousin Casey and caught up with her for a bit which was so fun!

After that we picked up Travis and headed home.  I was pretty bummed I had to come back to AZ...blah.  Thanks Travis and Cami for the awesome time!  Hopefully we can do it again soon.
