Calgary

The only weekend I got to be in Canada Billy and I decided to take a super quick weekend trip to Calgary and Banff!  We counted it as our 5 year anniversary trip since we won't be together for our anniversary this year:(  We drove out to Calgary early Saturday morning.  We left at 7 and it was a 3 hour drive.  Billy drove and I slept.  Man oh man we could make an entire post of pictures of me sleeping in the car.  Billy loves to take pictures because I look so gross and ugly, it's pretty funny.

Our day started at Fort Calgary, the very beginning of modern day Calgary.  It was a fun little museum.

Dressing up like mounties

Much better than the Indian Wars in the U.S.!  We get it Canada, we are much more violent than you.  Congratulations.

Writing inside the walls of the jail cell.  What does water taste like?
Not sure why we're writing names, but okay.  Haha

After Fort Calgary we left our car in the parking lot because the security guard said we could, then took a stroll down to the Calgary tower!  It was nothing compared to the Burj Kalifa in Dubai (yes, we are soooo well traveled...be jealous haha jk) but it was pretty cool because it had a glass floor at one part where you could look down and get all sick looking super far down at the ground.  It was awesome!

In the gift shop hehehe
After the Calgary tower we headed to the Devonian Gardens in a mall a few streets north.  We walked along a street called Stephen Avenue I think and it was a fun little part of downtown.  Lots of restaurants and people walking around and stuff.  The gardens were inside a mall and had fish in ponds and stuff, it was pretty cool!

Very pretty gardens!

Afterwards we walked to Prince's Island Park which was a beautiful park a few blocks north of the mall.  There was some sort of festival or something going on which was so fun and it was so beautiful and we loved walking around!

After the park we stopped by the Chinese cultural center, which wasn't that impressive.  Then we headed to Olympic park where I guess they gave medals out at the winter Olympics.  They were having a concert there which was fun!  They had all these food trucks and stuff, it was a fun atmosphere.  I saw a mini doughnut truck and I really wanted to try them!  Billy was all grumpy because he was tired and hot and was being a party pooper so I told him so then he bought the doughnuts and a coke and he was a happy camper after that!  Then we walked back to get our car and headed to our hotel to check in.

Yummmm

View from our hotel room!
For dinner we decided to try a Thai restaurant.  It was pretty good but super expensive and the service took FOREVER!  And no free drink refills.  I was pretty irritated.  But it was fun being out with Billy and eating curry!  Yum yum!  Afterwards we walked back to Price Island park and walked around a little bit more.  Then we headed back home after getting some ice cream.  We were fooled by the sun and it was so late when we got back!  We had to go to bed early in order to get up early to leave for Banff the next morning!

Saw these sweet shirts at a gift shop

Pretty pretty pretty

We didn't get ice cream here, but I thought this stand was cute
It was an awesome day in Calgary!  Too bad we missed the Calgary Stampede by like 10 days...bummer!

  1. You two did some great exploring in the time you had. Looks like such a blast. Calgary Tower...so scary. I would have been one of the weirdos crawling out.
