Texas to California

After Uncle Mike dropped us off at the airport in the morning, we checked in and were waiting at our gate when there was an announcement that the flight would be delayed 10 minutes due to crew rest.  Aparently the crew needed to rest.  Once we finally boarded the plane, there was another announcement that there was a system issue and they were waiting for a specialist to get to the airport to fix it, so we got off the plane and ended up waiting forever for the plane to be ready to take off.  While we were waiting, we went to the service desk to ask about our options because it appeared we were going to miss our connecting flight in Denver.  It was annoying because we had to wait for the girl at the counter to finish texting on her phone before she'd help us.  We ended up leaving so late that we knew we'd miss our connecting flight.  Once we finally got to Denver, we went straight to the service desk and they gave us a $20 food voucher, which we redeemed at Pizza Hut in the airport terminal, and got Caitlin onto the last seat on a flight that was leaving in a couple hours.  They put me on standby for that flight and saved me a seat for a flight that was scheduled to depart about 4 hours after the flight we got Caitlin on.  Luckily, I got onto the same flight as Caitlin with my standby ticket, so we were able to fly into Orange County together.  It was a pretty frustrating experience.

At the Houston Airport early in the morning waiting for our plane
We used every cent of the food vouchers they gave us at the Denver Airport.  We looked like a couple fatties.

Jenny picked us up at the airport and we showered, then went to dinner at Taqueria, went back to Jenny's house then visited and played with the kids.  Sierra scored us a free refill at Taqueria because she is so cute and Jen sent her up to the counter to ask for the refill all by herself.  Sierra was excited to try it to see if they'd make her pay for the refill and they didn't.  It was pretty fun because Jen planned it and Sierra was excited to try it.  Here are some pictures from Taqueria and from when we were playing with the kids at Jen's house -

I love these tacos!

After we hung out and played with the kids for a bit, we packed up the car and headed to Caitlin's house in San Diego.  The day of Cody's high school graduation, we went to the beach in the morning.  It was fun to play in the water, but it was so cold!  I think I got a little sunburn while we were there because I didn't put on any sunscreen.  I'm an idiot.  After the beach we got ready and headed over to the high school for Cody's graduation.  It was hot outside.  Caitlin and I were getting sunburned again.  There was also an annoying dad sitting in front and to the right of us.  He had a giant cardboard cut out of his son's head and he kept standing up and holding it up and yelling and whistling and stuff. After the graduation, we went back to the house, changed clothes and went to Caitlin's childhood friend's wedding reception.  It was really nice and the people that were sitting at our table were very friendly and fun.  Then we went back to the house and were able to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Sutherland who came for the graduation.  Here are pictures from the day -

I wish I had the strait-on version of this shot.  I think Grandpa has it.  I love it.

Post-wedding reception, chillin with Pennie.  Love that girlie and her awesome bandanas.
Caitlin jumping in here now.  We didn't stay long at the wedding, we headed home to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa before they left.  They were coming back the next day for Derek's homecoming though!  Which will be the next post!  Woot!  Finally posting a blog post!
